  1. I have a 2004 Honda CR-V that I bought in 2005, new from Shack-Findlay Honda in Henderson, NV. The A/C has failed five times. The first two, in 2005 and 2006, were covered by the factory warranty. The second two, in 2007 and 2008, were covered by the extended warranty. The last one failed in 2009, but I can’t afford to fix it. Five failures in five years, including the first summer I had the car. Honda refuses to admit that there’s a problem, either with the design and placement of the compressor in the vehicle, or the compressor itself. Five failures in five years. Living in Las Vegas, NV, until early 2014 made it pretty tough in the summer, with temperatures easily over 100F for months at a stretch. Now I’m in the Inland Empire of Southern California, where summer temperatures are regularly in the 90’s and into the 100’s during the summer. I love my CR-V, but I’d really like Honda to step up and resolve this problem for me. I bought my CR-V out of loyalty, having had two Civics previously. How about showing a little loyalty in reverse? Five failures in five years.

This issue is limited to the A/C only. I recently replaced the clutch which lasted over 183,000 miles. The quality of the rest of the car is not in question. Just the A/C.

    Thanks,

    Garry Parker
    Redlands, CA

  2. I purchased a 2004 Grand Jeep Cherokee (with an extended warranty) on May 28, 2015, from Auffenberg Nissan, in O’Fallon Illinois. On Sunday, June 14, 2015, the Jeep broke down; two weeks after having purchased it. I had to have it towed home. Two days later, on Tuesday June 16, 2015, I had the jeep towed back to the dealership. After about a week I was told that the jeep needed a new transmission, the transmission was covered under the warranty, my jeep would be fixed. On June 26, 2015, I was told by Rob Courtial (of the Auffenberg service center) that my jeep was ready and that I could pick it up, after paying a $100 deductible under the extended warranty guidelines. On June 26, 2015, I payed the deductible and drove my jeep home. I noticed -on the way home- that my jeep was driving sluggishly, as if it was struggling during acceleration. The “Perform Service” light came on with the red indicator light on the dash. There’s something wrong with my jeep. I want the vehicle replaced, as soon as possible.

    • Extended warranties are really “service contracts” and the only obligation under one of those is to pay for repairs, not to fix within a reasonable opportunity like lemon laws require. If they ever refuse a covered repair, you’ll likely have a case then.

  3. Need a call back.

  4. I bought a new 2013 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid from Tameron Hyundai in Hoover, Al October 2013. In November 2014 the main battery (not the hybrid battery) went dead. I had to call a tow truck to jump start the car when I got home and tried to crank it it was dead again. So the next day I had call another tow truck to jump start again and this time I took it straight to the dealership. They had it for about 3 hours doing a slow charge on the battery. They could not find anything wrong with it. Almost to the day 2 months later (January 2015) same thing happened. Again took back to the dealer and again they did a slow charge on it because they could not find anything wrong. And again 2 months later we are back at the dealership with the same problem only this time I am beyond mad. They keep the car 3 days and replace the battery. This time it took 3 months and I am having the same problem. I don’t know what to do at this point. The car is still under warranty but they simply do not have a clue what is wrong with the car.

  5. Appeal a lemon denial on a toyota scion.

  6. I purchased a 2012 F250 Super Duty, Diesel, on July 3,2015. On July 4 the check engine light came on. I took the truck to O’Reily and had them scan the code, came back as mass airflow sensor, I replaced the filter. I took the truck into the dealer yesterday, they ran the code and it is the EGR valve (replaced under warranty), and that upon visual inspection the radiator is cracked. It has only been 10 days after purchase, does the raditator fall under the law?

  7. I bought a 2014 Dodge Dart last year and since then has been in the dealership shop four times for a radio issue. The radio will turn off to a completely black screen and sometimes turn back on. This started happening a couple weeks after I bought the car and has continued to happen over the last year. When on the phone with the dealership, the service manager said that they are having some “grounding issues” in the Darts and that could be the reason my radio is continuing to fail/glitch out.

That information made me nervous. Replacing a ground isn’t an easy task being that it is done from the factory, which the manager admitted that would be extensive. So, once again, they are going to look at the radio and/or replace it. I am worried about the future of this car! If electrical issues continue I could be at risk of more failures and even a fire. I keep my car in the garage and if the car catches fire while parked at home my entire house could end up in flames – this being the worst case scenario.

What should I do? Does this sound like something I can report under Lemon Law?

    • I purchased a 2003 Ford excape from s deslership in Sept 2015. Was told vehicle was inspected and everything was in good working order. Was not offered a warranty until the end of signing. Immediately had issues. Took back to dealership within days of purchase. They said front axle was broken. Since I didn’t have a warranty they gave me a redusced price to replace the front axle. Shortly after replacement I noticed the transmission hesitating. Took it back to dealership & replaced rt seal. Within days transmission hesitating again. Took it back, they sad eas left seal leaking. They replaced that. 2 days later car has no fluid. Car towed back to dealership to replace left seal again. Picked up car. Got home , still leaking. Asker a different mechanic about issue. He said possible bushing in trans-axle could be worn out.and replacing the seal wont do any good. Is that under the kemon law for selling a used car with powertrain problems?

  8. I was a private seller on this 2001 car. I have informed the buyer that the car has overheating issues that will cost money for her to fix. However, she was still interested. So we met up and I let her took the car to her mechanic, it turns out she was happy with the report from the check up. She purchased the car and we did the title change. After a day, she called and said that the car has more issues attached to it and asking for refund. I was wondering since she was informed with the issue and even went to a mechanic, would I still be responsible for it.

  9. I purchase a new (Demo car) 2014 Chevy Cruze from Rock Chevrolet in Grays Lake, IL on Jan 9, 2015. Liked the car never had any problems with it only had the oil changed once at the dealership when it was needed. I had driven to Cincinnati, Ohio in it for the 4th of July weekend and on my way home everything was fine as usual I filled the tank with gas washed my windows and headed back home to Lake Bluff, IL when all of the sudden it was like the car was in neutral I stepped on the gas could hear the engine but the car didn’t go just kept slowing down. I look and it was still in drive and my engine light was on so I coasted to the side of the road when I saw smoke coming out from under the hood so I got my dog and got out of the car and called 911 bye the time the fire truck got there the whole front end was in flames. The car was a total loss. GM thinks because I reported it to my auto insurance company that they have no responsibility. Is that true? I have been told by some people that they should replace the car but they wouldn’t even consider it. So I had to buy a new car. I went to a Chevy dealership thinking it would be covered under manufacturers warranty and again I was told no. So I ended up with a chevy sonic. Do I have any recourse with GM?

  10. We bought a scion by toyota yesterday to use in her business. It seemed like the right suv at the time. But after
driving it for a day she said the suspension in this suv would would make the ride in the very uncomfortable and painful especially on uneven pavement. What recourse do we have with the dealer?

I bought a used 2009 Dodge Journey SXT in 2013. I have had to take it to the shop twice now for not starting and will now have to take it in again for the same issue. The first time was July 18, 2014, I was told that the freeze plug needed to be replaced which is between the transmission and engine. I got that fixed for 1159.00. Then about six months later it would randomly not start again. I went to the shop and was told that I needed a new battery so I got a new one. Now this morning almost a year after I got the freeze plug replaced and six months after I got a new battery, I go to start my car and it does nothing. My husband tried to jump start it but sparks were flying off of the battery when he tried to connect the jumper cables, keys were not in igniition and he had the negative and postive correct. I am not sure what’s wrong with it this time but its the same issue of my car not starting. Also everything lights up in the car so I don’t think its the battery. Depdning on the diagnosis this time would this car be considered a lemon or just bad luck?

  12. We purchased a 2002 Jeep Liberty August 1st and today is August 16th and I spent my afternoon with a smoking engine. There is a hole in the radiator and we did not know this until the engine started smoking. The car will not turn over. We have emergency service coming to tow the car to a garage. Since we had this car for just over two weeks do we qualify for a refund. The dealer did not mention any issues with the radiator or starter.

  13. Bought brand new at Arrigo Dodge in Fort Pierce ,Florida. Dodge 2015 end of May 2015,since day one having issues with the transmission shaft. At the beginning they saying the noise was normal, talked to the Service manager, then They replace it one time, then they tried something else, did not work, Tired going back many times with no success. Don’t know what to do anymore.
I think I will need a legal assistant.
    Thank You

  14. My wife and I purchased a 2006 Mini Cooper of of Gary Bently’s lot in Hazel Green Alabama. The first problem we had was two blow outs, so I took the car to get a new tires put on. Then I found out the cause of the blow outs which was due to his machanic not doing his job correctly which when I speak to you my husband can tell you exactly what it was.Today we were driving down the road and the brakes locked up and we ended up in the ditch thank God we were both ok. My neck hurts pretty bad but I have no insurence yet and I sure don”t need another bill with no car to get to work. What can I do about this, This guy is a crook and doesn’t need to get away with selling cars that can kill people?

  16. I bought a car from a local car dealership in Mesa AZ at the end of 2013. It was a 2006 Saab and it had a 15 day warranty. This was my first car purchase and I wanted a used vehicle so I could pay it off fast and help my credit. Within the first week the Saab started having issues and in the middle of a heavy traffic day it died completely. I had it towed back to the dealership and they sent it to be worked on for 1 week. After I got the car back I still noticed that it wanted to give out when I came to complete stops. I had my 4 year old child in the car anf felt that this car would only put us in danger especially If it died on the freeway. I called the dealership and voiced my complaint. A few people told me that it was fixed and there was nothing they could do. I finally got in touch with a man who said he could help and sent me to Hyundai where I would get a 2013 car. Excited with the news and after days of stressing I rushed over and thought everything would be fixed and they would take back the Saab. Turns out they added the Saab which was 9,000 to the price of my 2013 Hyundai Sonata. I would like to know what can be done to help fix this situation. I know time has passed buy so many unexpected deaths in my family and taking care of others has gotten in the way of my finances. I now have the time to go through all my paperwork and hopefully fix the mistakes. Please contact me if you are available to help me with this issue.

  19. 2004 Infiniti FX35. Purchased with 7 miles on it. Between 2004 and 2010, the dashboard was replaced twice under manufacturers warranty due to “smallpox”-like bubbles forming all over dash. In ~Nov. 2012, I noticed AGAIN that bubbles were forming in the third dashboard. In ~December 2012 I obtained a written promise from manufacturer to reimburse me for dash (would be the fourth dash, on an otherwise pristine vehicle) replacement ($7,000). Since the issue was just starting (and it cost $7k), I waited. July 2016: I went to “SMOG” vehicle. The dash VIN tag fell out (it was there 6 months before). No accidents (ever), and no windshield or dash work in last 3+ years.

Infiniti will not honor 2012 promise to reimburse (“over one year since promise”- their “internal policy” in not in my letter). Nor will they repair issue under 49 CFR 565 (“VIN to be permanently affixed near driver’s A pillar and visible without moving any part of car”). Inifiniti did a semi-secret “warranty extension” of dashboards, to 8 years, but kept giving me known defective ones over and over, through 2010…

Oh yeah- vehicle is valueless, because I have to SMOG it. SMOG shops look at missing VIN and say, no thanks- it’s a salvage or it was stolen (neither), and not sell-able for same reason (two Carmax stores). I can get a new VIN through CHP, but I gotta REMOVE THE DASH ($7000) to install it.

    Any thoughts?

  20. I purchased a 2015 ford edge in May of 2016 – It had 6 miles on it. On July 28 I took it in ,had 3400 miles at this time. It was making a squeaking and popping noise under the drivers side dash area. After many contacts with dealership they say it had missed spotwelds during manufacturing process. The car was built around the welds. They wanted to cut the frame to get to it, we said no. They consulted with ford who came up with the idea of drilling a guide hole. After the repair was done it did not fix the issue. Ford has evaluated it for buyback and said I am not eligible for buyback. The vehicle still sits at the dealership (43 days now) waiting for a Ford field service manager to come out and look at it. They decline to provide me with any information on what work was done or any of the communication between Ford and the dealership. I have emailed the Kansas Attorney General with no response.

  21. I bought a 2011 Nissan Quest sv at 37k miles for $10,000 from A Betterway auto whole sale dealership in CT. The purchase date was Feb 2, 2016. On Nov 220, 2016, my van stalled on an entrance ram onto a highway. A code came on the dash that indicated transmission problem, 45k miles. I had AAA towed it to Nissan Dealership in Fairfield, ct on Nov 21, 2016.. I live in CT. I called Nissan HQ with their 800 #s. They said they’d pay 80%. Miller Nissan called me on 12/09/16 and said they replaced the transmission but the van keeps stalling. It needs ECU and wire harness. That would cost $3900.00. The van is not driveable at this time. They said a pin was broken on the ECU and the harness connector would not stay in place. They said they did not break it. They want me to replace it and pay $3900.00 plus 20% of transmission plus labor and taxes. I dont have that kind of money. Do I have a case . Please help.
