Most new vehicles come with a “Bumper to Bumper” basic vehicle warranty, with specific coverage terms determined by each individual manufacturer. The Bumper to Bumper vehicle warranty coverage is different from “service contracts” (commonly called “extended warranties”) as the Bumper to Bumper is provided by the manufacturer as part of the vehicle purchase whereas service contracts are sold separately by the dealer. The typical domestic manufacturer’s vehicle warranty is 3 years/36,000 miles and for vehicles manufactured in Asia, 4 years/50,000 miles.
